Ian stripped the bar for the next person

Last week the rep that landed hardest pointed away from you and at the room you were standing in. It got more reaction and more comments than anything else in the group.
This week’s rep: “Leave It Better”
Pick one place you use today and leave it better than you found it. Nothing major. Wipe down the counter. Pick up something that isn’t yours. Straighten the gym equipment. Put something back where it belongs. Throw away a piece of trash you didn’t create. Then don’t announce it. Just leave behind evidence that you were there and things improved.
Why it works: Discipline that only ever points inward gets self-absorbed pretty fast. Taking care of a space nobody assigned you builds the habit of ownership in exactly the places where skipping it costs you nothing. The standard you hold when there’s no credit in it is the real one.
Your rep today: Find one place that could use improving and fix something small, without telling anyone. Then notice how it feels to follow through.
The win: Ian
Ian took it to the gym. If you lift, you know the problem. Someone finishes a set, walks off, and leaves the bar loaded. The next person either strips it before they can start or gives up and goes to find another station. Ian went round and cleared a few of them. He called it simple, and it was. Nobody watched him do it and nobody thanked him, and somewhere in that gym a person walked up to a bar that was ready to use and never found out why. That’s the whole rep, and it’s a better test of character than most things that come with an audience.
